Data science is an interdisciplinary field and covers desired attributes such as: a graduate-level degrees in mathematics, statistics or computer science; knowledge and skills in key programming languages such Python, Java, and C++; advanced data querying skills using SQL; evidence of analysing large data sets using a variety of appropriate machine learning methods; business acumen and an ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical people.

A key reason why predictive analytics projects do not achieve their goal is due to important skill gaps within the organisation’s workforce. According to a recent study by KDnuggets, an internationally renowned site on data science and machine learning, there remains a shortage of talent with data science skills. They reported that the top two emerging jobs on LinkedIn were Machine Learning Engineer and Data Scientists and that the LinkedIn Workforce Report revealed that such skill shortages were evident in most large US cities. Furthermore, KDnuggets cite the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics prediction that 11.5 million jobs in the area of data science will be created by 2026.

The level of content and delivery will be developed on a bespoke basis as determined by your organisational needs. Most commonly, teaching will be in the form of small group lectures, seminars and laboratory sessions (as appropriate) taking place either on your site, remotely or mixture thereof.

Our tuition is led by members of our team who hold a Ph.D in the relevant subject areas, have a relevant research track record and extensive teaching experience in the University sector at Levels 4 to 7 of the National Qualifications Framework (as defined by the Quality Assurance Agency). In addition, our tutors must hold a recognised teaching award such as a Post-graduate Certificate in Higher Education.
